Providing the community with a creative collaborative hub to share their vision to the public and promote innovation through all art mediums.

MÄTI - A Creative Collaborative Hub

We are the Masonic Arts, Theatre & Innovation Company, better known as MÄTI (Mah*tee).  Based in the historic Masonic Square Mall in downtown Marquette, our goal is to acquire the building and turn it into a regional creative, collaborative hub that provides the creative community with a place to share their vision with the public and promote innovation through all art mediums.

Whether you are an actor, artist, baker, chef, coder, dancer, graphic designer, maker, musician, videographer, problem solver, change-maker, or anyone else who defines themselves by their desire to create, you are welcome here.  We are excited to provide you with a home to hone your craft, practice your trade, perform for audiences large & small, and sell your wares locally and beyond.

Whether you need our 250+ seat theatre & performance venue with recording/live stream capabilities to share your dance studio’s latest performance, our commercial kitchen to launch your cottage food based business or food truck, a retail/office space with direct access to Washington Street, a place to teach a class to the community or meet up with your quilting club, or a connection to another local group or individual who can help you in your creative endeavor, we’re here to set the stage for your success.

Space

While we haven’t acquired the building yet, we are collaborating with the Masonic Square Mall to encourage and support creative endeavors in the facility.  This list is by no means exhaustive so if you need a resource not listed don’t hesitate to reach out.

Affectionately known as the Red Room, this 18th Century British Style theatre with 250+ seats is set-up to accommodate a variety of creative mediums from interview style talk & comedy shows, to dance recitals, musical performances, theatrical plays, dinner theatre and more.

If you’ve attended one of the following iconic Marquette events, you’ve been here before: Peter White Public Library Sip & Spell, Double Trouble DJ’s Raves, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Lake Superior Hospice Lip Sync Battle.

Our certified commercial kitchen is fully equipped and ready to support you in your latest culinary endeavor.  The facility is outfitted with several convection ovens, stove tops, a deep fryer, cold & dry storage, a commercial dishwasher, multiple sinks, large work spaces, and all the utensils, pots, and pans you will need to get started.

Previous and current tenants include: Aloha Grill, Bengri Sushi, Borealis Baking Co., Das Pretzel Guys, Davin’s Chocolates, and Peace Pie Company.

Able to hold up to 216 people and with windows looking out over Washington Street, the Banquet Room is the perfect venue for many different kinds of events.  Everything from craft shows, wedding receptions, weekly bingo nights, Marquette County Mom Prom and more have taken place in this space.

If you’re looking to host a creative class that allows students to spread out and have lots of room for materials and making, this could be the perfect venue for you.

Perfect for your next board or committee meeting, the Green Room is equipped with a large table and a plug and play video conferencing and audio system to Zoom in those members unable to make it in person.  Alternatively, the space can be rented in conjunction with other rooms to provide you with a larger footprint for your event.

The ever popular Lounge makes a great retreat or VIP space for larger events.  With recent renovations and a fresh coat of paint in 2020, the room is ready to be decked out to host your pre-event social, after-event mixer, or a quiet place to retreat for guests at a larger event.

Alternatively, the room, able to hold up to 65 people, could make a great place to host smaller classes or social crafting meet-ups.

Do you need a quiet place to work on your projects? Currently under development, these twelve 8′ x 8′ studio spaces will be available for creatives to rent on a month-to-month basis.  Whether you are painting with watercolor, knitting, creating logos with graphic design software, or editing photos & videos these affordable spaces could be a great fit for you.

Tentatively available May 2021 – call today to add your name to our waiting list!

While not being built just yet, we envision adding a 1,600 sq/ft makerspace to the facility as funding becomes available.  With a focus on technologically enabled creative arts (think 3D printing, laser engraving, wood routing, possibly t-shirt printing etc.) the space will provide opportunities for members to tinker, make individual pieces of art, and produce initial short-runs of products to sell.

If you are interested in helping make this space come to life send an email to [email protected] to inquire about joining the committee.
